The industrialization and ongoing technologization of society is nothing in terms of time compared to the almost two and a half million years we have lived as hunter-gatherers. If hunter-gatherers had written history books, we might wonder whether our modern life would even have been mentioned in the margins of those history books. Most of the human genes are still tuned to life as a hunter-gatherer and cannot keep up with the pace of the contemporary high-tech global economy.
